SUBMIT UNTO GOD! Peggy Kannaday The Devil will Flee! Submit Unto God (Words 842) James 4:7, "Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you." It tells us in James 4:7 that the way to resist the devil is to submit unto God first. We are not able to resist the devil in our own strength. If we try to resist the devil in our own power, understanding and capabilities; we will invariably fail. We need the supernatural, almighty, omniscient power of God in order to resist the devil. The devil is a supernatural being who has many supernatural and evil forces at his disposal for a limited time here on earth. However, when we submit unto God; Satan's powers become neutralized by the overcoming and supreme power of the Lord. Why? God has given Jesus Christ all power in heaven and earth. Matthew 28:18, "And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth." However, if we trust in our own ability; we are doomed. Our total trust, faith and hope must be in the Lord Jesus Christ and His power in that particular situation. Everything that is accomplished in the Kingdom of God is activated by our faith in the King of the Kingdom. He works through our faith, and without faith it is impossible to please Him. How do we submit to the King? What does it mean to "submit" unto God? It means to: 1.) Put under. a. You put yourself under God's protection by turning the temptation, problem or sin immediately over to Him through prayer. 2.) Be subject unto. a. Be ready to obey God's guidance concerning the situation. Study His Word. 3.) Submit one's self to God in total surrender. a. We then give all of our own desires over to God, and we thank Him for the deliverance from the devil. 4.) We put our total faith and trust in God to bring the victory. a. We never doubt that the Lord will deliver us out of the affliction. The victory does not come in our own resistance to the devil and his onslaught, but it rests in our turning to God before we do anything else. Our initial impulse is to react in the flesh, but we must instead fall on our face before God. There is no problem, sin or entanglement that can withstand the mighty hand of God. There is nothing that the enemy can attack you with that has not been overcome by the Blood of the Lamb. God sent His son to be the Lamb slain for our salvation. Revelation 5:12, "Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing." When we turn to God in prayer; we instantly put ourselves under His protective wings. He is our shelter and strong tower in every storm. Psalms 61:3, "For thou hast been a shelter for me, and a strong tower from the enemy." He will send His angels to assist you when you submit unto Him. When you make the Lord your "habitation" which means dwelling place; He will take care of you. Psalms 91:9-11, "Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation; There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling. For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways." The devil is not afraid of us, as he knows who we are without God. However, he is deathly afraid of the King of kings and Lord of lords. When we put ourselves under the protection, guidance and care of the Lord of this universe; we then receive His power to overcome in that situation and the enemy knows it. When we submit unto God; the enemy doesn't see us, but he sees the King of kings and Lord of lords, and he cannot endure the sight. His reaction is to get away as fast as he can. When we submit unto God, we put ourselves under the covering of the Blood of Jesus Christ. When the devil looks at us, he sees this covering, and he is terrified. This Blood is the very substance that has totally and eternally defeated Satan. It reminds him that his end is coming. It also tells him that he has no power in this child of God's life now as this Christian has submitted unto the mighty hand of God. The enemy can't get away fast enough. What a wonderful provision God has made for us by sending His only begotten Son to die on the cross for us. What a glorious sacrifice our Savior made for our deliverance from sin and the consequences of our sin, which is eternal death. God gave His very best so that we can have His greatest gift, Jesus Christ. Turn to Him today, submit unto Him and enter into His glorious Kingdom.
